Otto Introduces Latest in Screening Technology

John C. Otto is proud to offer the latest in stochastic screening technology, which produces nearly photographic quality images, complete with sharper detail and cleaner, richer color than traditional print screening.

“As technology continues to evolve, change is inevitable. At Otto, we embrace change and implement it in the best way possible. Sometimes the best way is to wait until a technology matures,” says company vice president Todd Peetros. “We are confident that now we have a new screening technology that exceeds even our high standards of printing excellence. We would offer nothing less to our customers.”

Stochastic printing surpasses traditional printing, which uses minute dots arranged in a pattern to create an image. In stochastic printing, the dots are random, eliminating the ragged edges of the patterns and making the final printed piece much cleaner and sharper. Originally introduced in the 1980s, the screening technology initially had many flaws. With the development of computer-to-plate printing, stochastic screening in its digital form has been virtually perfected.
