Printing Industry Veteran Takes the Helm at Otto


Printing industry veteran Kevin Spall was named president of John C. Otto and assumed his post in October 2005.

Spall brings more than 15 years of experience in the printing industry, with a focus on book and commercial printing sales and technology development. Prior to joining Otto, he was vice president of sales and marketing for Lightning Source Inc., the industry’s leading provider of combined book manufacturing and distribution services. Previously he served as director of business development for the Book Publishing Group of R.R. Donnelley, with responsibilities related to trade book publishing markets.

Spall, following in his grandfather’s footsteps who worked in printing in the 1940s, started in the business making proofs, and worked his way up to various management and sales roles. Early in his career, he was director of business development and digital services for commercial printer S&S Graphics. He then joined R.R. Donnelley as prepress and IT manager of the manufacturing division, later serving as director of technology for the Book Publishing Group.

Spall received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and studied business at Johns Hopkins University.
